We get asked a lot…”What’s up with people getting Body Painted?”
Body Painting has become more and more popular over the past few years. What used to be reserved for Magazine covers, Movies, Commercials, Brand Promotion has now entered main stream society. Artists are using the human body as canvas to create some beautiful pieces of art.
What’s happening in mainstream society is that every day women and men are letting go of their inhibitions and taking it all off in the name of art and empowerment. We have seen an increase in giving a body painting session as a gift. This can either be a husband giving a session to his wife because she has always wanted to try it or wives doing a session and having it professionally photographed and giving pictures of the final images to the husband as a gift. We have had more sessions where woman are hiring us to come to private parties, bachelorette parties “girls night out” parties and having us do a variety of body paintings on the attendees just for fun.
Then there are of course Halloween parties and Mardi Gras parties where it has become more popular to show up in a body painted costume.
On the “corporate side”, Companies bring in an airbrush artist to body paint models with everything from corporate logos, sports jersey’s, lingerie, Bathing Suits etc…to walk around trade shows and expos to draw attention to their booth.
Body painting is used in movies and TV. It has become more popular due to shows like Skin Wars, Face-off, Naked Vegas. Then of course we have advertising agencies and marketing firms using it as brand promotions for their clients. This can be anything from The famous “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue” to the local bar having their logo painted on a model.
One of the things we hear from the models themselves that have never done anything like this before is how it winds up being an extremely exhilarating experience. The feeling of self confidence that once may have been lost, quickly returns after one has exposed themselves to being transformed into a piece of art. Whether it’s taking clothing off just to have new clothing painted on or being transformed into a wild animal, exotic piece of art or simply having some paint splashed on you, woman and men walk away from the experience feeling confident and empowered.
The human body is a piece of Art to begin with so it makes sense that it can easily be used as a canvas.
So now that you have a little more understanding as to why body painting has become more popular. Think about it the next time you are having a party?, corporate event?, brand promotion? grand opening?, art show?….body painted models are a great way to add that special artistic touch to any type of event or just as a fun experience for yourself.
